One of the largest Buddhist stupas in the world

The weather has not been very good the last days. This is not common for this time of the year, the rains should come a bit later. All the Nepalis think this is very strange and talk a lot about climate change. There is even talk going on of the people currently in the Everest camps about their window of good weather becoming smaller and smaller to summit the mountain. Anyways....

I went to see the Boudanath temple which apparently is very important for Buddhism in Nepal. Early in the morning many monks come and do their round prayers. You are supposed to go around it in a Clock-wise fashion. Don't ask why. Ok, if you MUST know, you can click here.

I went there two times, on a Sunday and on a Tuesday. Tuesday was much calmer, I guess it had to do with the cloudy weather. Around the temple you can find a lot of shops and restaurants with a nice view of the Stupa. I found a roof terrace of a Spanish restaurant which gave me a pretty good view. The image on the top was taken from there.

Here's a glimpse of what goes on in a Sunday afternoon.

Another one...

Maybe I should not say this, but when I was going into the temple, the guard thought I was Nepali so i did not have to pay to get in. Haha! So I could skip the line and get a free ticket.

Tomorrow were heading to Thokarpa, a very small town in the countryside. I hope the weather is good!
